HSL vs Hex Colors

HSL stands for Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. It is often considered more intuitive for humans than RGB or Hex because it aligns with how we perceive color (e.g., "blue, but darker").

When to use HSL?

HSL is great for creating color palettes (changing saturation/lightness while keeping hue constant). However, most browsers and legacy systems still heavily rely on Hex codes for compatibility and brevity.

Conversion Process

This tool automates the complex mathematical formula required to translate cylindrical-coordinate HSL values back into the RGB/Hex Cartesian coordinates required by displays.
